I am actually a very nice person, but have difficulty dealing with confrontation. Offices have a lot of politics, jerks, gossip, etc. and I do not want to deal with it anymore. I can not bring myself to change my ethical litmus test by using the only method that confrontational people respect, that is, insults, embarrassment, backstabbing, or feigned friendship. What high-paying jobs are out there for intelligent, skilled, people, who are too sensistive to deal with interpersonal work-stressors? Please do not reccommend "growing a thick skin." I have already tried that and it is not accomplishable. Also, while the book "Winning Friends" is instructional, I find the methods manipulative, and I cannot bring myself to implement them consistently. Yes, I have tried. Yes, I am looking for the same kind of job, but not a security guard, morgue worker, or low-paying job… something high-paying. I would suggest trying to build yourself up into a people person. People people generally make more money. Try reading a book like "how to win friends and influence people" by Dale Carnegie or "how to start a conversation and make friends" by Don Gaber. You're not the only one who either doesn't like, or is afraid to interact one on one, face to face with people, but I think you will be much happier learning to deal with people than finding a way to avail them.
